5:30pm & 8:00am Hymns: 496, 537, 765, 729, 814, 631, 917
"Always keep on praying for all the saints." (Eph 6:18)
If you desire a prayer of thanksgiving or supplication to be offered today by the pastor in the worship service, please fill in a pink "Prayer Request" form and place it in the offering plate. Prayer request forms are on the shelf at the back of the church or are available from the ushers.
WELCOME! Today's Scripture readings and psalm provide a nautical theme for our worship. God asks Job rhetorically where he was when the sea was put in its place. Jesus, in a boat with the disciples, stills the storm on the Sea of Galilee. And the psalm talks about our enemies as if they were a flood ready to sweep us away. Rejoice! Our gracious God provides calming peace over all His creation--- including us!
THE LORD'S SUPPER is a means by which Christ our Savior strengthens our faith as we receive His actual body and blood, under the bread and wine. Because of the public nature of the Sacrament we invite those persons who are members of this congregation or another congregation of the Missouri Synod to commune. Other guests are encouraged to speak with our Pastor if they wish to learn more about our confessional fellowship and share in the supper.

Blue Ribbon Task Force on Structure and Governance presents proposals to S. WI District Delegates
To change or not to change . . . that was the question at hand in Session II of the South Wisconsin District convention as delegates reviewed and discussed the LCMS Blue Ribbon Task Force on Synod Structure and Governance. The task force, appointed by President Gerald Kieschnick in 2005, is currently presenting its twenty tentative proposals for restructuring the LCMS to district conventions throughout the Synod. Rev. Robert Greene, task force chair, summarized each proposal and then responded to questions and concerns expressed by the delegates. Delegates were invited to respond to each proposal via a paper survey. Survey results will be processed in St. Louis and then sent to the District office. Nationwide results will be posted on the Synod’s website this fall.
Key proposals include:
* enhancing the opportunity for commissioned ministers to serve as voting delegates,
* reducing the number of voting delegates at the national convention by 50% to 650 and eliminating advisory delegates,
* basing congregational representation to the national convention, at least in part, on the size of the congregation,
* holding district and national conventions every four years rather than the current three-year cycle,
* requiring a two-thirds vote of national convention delegates to approve theological statements and resolutions,
* reconfiguring circuits and districts to address geography and types of ministry,
* including congregations and districts in the final say when certifying a seminary graduate for the pastoral ministry,
* removing term limits for elected offices, and
* renaming the LCMS.
The most frequently expressed concerns among the delegates addressed reducing the lay delegate voice, doing away with term limits, expanding the certification process for seminary graduates, and renaming the LCMS.
Greene stressed that the proposals are still in the formative stage. After gathering all the feedback that it can this summer, the task force will submit its final report in October as the LCMS looks ahead to its national convention in July of 2010 in Houston. Any changes proposed by the task force must be approved by Synod convention delegates and ratified by LCMS congregations. You can read and respond to the task force’s current report online at lcms.org via the "Walking Together" link.
