"Always keep on praying for all the saints." (Eph 6:18)
If you desire a prayer of thanksgiving or supplication to be offered today by the pastor in the worship service, please fill in a pink "Prayer Request" form and place it in the offering plate. Prayer request forms are on the shelf at the back of the church or are available from the ushers.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP  In an age when casual is in, we often forget that our place at God's table is no casual matter. Before we presume anything, we need to be reminded that to sit at God's table came at His invitation and not our desire and that the place where we sit was earned for us by Jesus' suffering and death. Humility is a mark of true faith---that we cast aside all thoughts of our own worthiness in order to stand on the merits of Christ alone. He gives us a seat at God's table---here today in the Holy Communion and in eternity at the marriage supper of the Lamb that has no end.

HOLY COMMUNION is the Lord's Supper, the Risen Christ is at once the Giver and the Gift! By His promise, His very body and blood are really present; and thereby we come into immediate contact with the exalted Christ! As we do so, witness is also given to oneness in doctrine by those who receive the Sacrament together. For this reason, we ask guests to speak with our pastor before communing.

UNIFIED BUDGET FINANCIALS: The balance in the unified budget going into August was a negative $2,929 which means funds to pay bills and salaries had to be temporarily “borrowed” from restricted funds. Offerings have been consistently below pledge most of the year (between $500 and $600 each week) and with major repairs needed to the heating system in the Christian Learning Center (CLC), and to the phone system from recent electrical storm damage, dollars will have to be spent from the Contingency Fund. Your prayers on behalf of the funding of ministry at Our Savior are appreciated.

FLOWERS IN THE CHANCEL are given to the glory of God by Lisa & Thomas Stellard in thannksiving for their first wedding anniversary.

TIPS ABOUT GROCERY RECEIPTS: At this time Gooseberries is not involved with saving receipts. At Sentry you just ask your check-out clerk to place that “funds for friends” green sticker on the back of your receipt, then place it in the basket in the fellowship hall. Pick-n-Save works a wee bit differently; you must first visit the service desk, just once, to ask that they credit your card for 6he Ladies Guild of Our Savior Lutheran Church, then there after just using that card at the check-out everything will be done automatically. Almost forgot, our “bookkeeper” asks that you not staple those receipts together, just leave them as is – Thank You.

SPEAKING OF LADIES GUILD: I’m here to remind you we will be resuming our monthly meeting once again. Our first gathering will be the second Monday of September, the 13th, at 1:00pm. We, of course, extend an invitation to all or any of you ladies of our congregation. We’d be so pleased to have you join us, we’ll be discussing muffin Sunday and plans for our November Bazaar – along with a full agenda of items that need our attention. Come have fun along with us, I’ll bring the dessert!

HEALTH KITS: are an urgent need for Lutheran World Relief. Please pick up a 'shopping list' and bring in supplies before mid-Sept. Each kit costs about $6. or $7. Money may be donated to Ladies Guild to buy items for kits, or to LWR (or Ladies Guild) for shipping costs of $2.65 per kit. Help make it possible to continue this life-saving ministry with generous donations.

LIFE STYLE ASSESSMENT – 1 Corinthians 3:16:  “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” Are you taking too many medications, paying too many deductibles or just plain frustrated with your physical health? Medical research now says that we can be less medicated and healthier by having a Life Style Assessment. If you’d like to have such an assessment, call Lutheran Counseling & Family Services of Wisconsin at 1-800-291-4513 or email DrMeseck@lcfswi.org.

FROM YOUR CHOIR DIRECTOR
It is my joy and pleasure to be addressing you today with the news of my return to our choir ministry this fall. I thank you for all your prayers and support this past year in my time of healing. God has blessed me with recovery and I am eager to be reunited with the choir. It is my hope, as I continue to heal, to work along with our choir with care and heedfulness. My heart is full of resonating tones just waiting to share all the beautiful music God has given us to sing.
I have contacted the choir members with the news that we will be starting rehearsals on Thursday September 9th at 7:00pm in the church. The choir will be singing the following Sundays:

                                September 19th at 8:00am
                                                and
                                September 26th at 10:45am.

I ask that you keep me and the choir in your prayers at this time.

In His Service,

Jeannine

LIFE QUOTE “God gave you life. Job reminds us that God shaped and formed you in the womb like a potter shaping and forming a vessel (Job 10:8). As a vessel belongs to the potter, so you belong to God.” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life. This “Life Quote” is from Lutherans For Life – www.lutheransforlife.org.

WANT TO HEAR SOME REALLY GOOD NEWS?
Try out the Good News Class. The Good News Class consists of people meeting together and exploring Scriptures with Pastor Rob. Ten weekly sessions look at topics like 'Who is Jesus?', 'Why and how do I pray?' and other basics of the Christian faith. There is time for people to discuss, integrate and apply what they have learned. The classes are ninety minutes long and child care is available.
Who is the Good News Class for?
This course is open to everyone who would like to attend. The Good News Class is designed for people who aren't churchgoers as well as for those who attend church but want to be refreshed in the essentials of the Christian faith.
Guests come for a wide variety of reasons - some want to investigate whether God exists; others are concerned about what happens after death. Some people have particular questions that they would like to discuss; others want to understand other peoples' beliefs or would like to explore the purpose of life. Some want to know more about what the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) teaches and how that compares with the Bible.
Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. Some have not been baptized are interested in learning more about the meaning of Christian baptism and church membership. Regular church attendees often come for renewal.
Our next Good News Class series begins on Sunday, September 12th at 5pm in the lower level of the Christian Learning Center (CLC). There is no need to register for the first class – just come! You can contact Pastor Rob at 763-3281 for more information or to request childcare. We would be pleased to have you attend.

GIVING TREE - In case you are wondering why there is still a tree down stairs in the fellowship hall the Fellowship board has decided to make this tree the year around GIVING TREE for Love Inc.  Each month we will change the tags on the tree to be things that Love Inc is in desperate need of.  So please check the tree and take a tag or 2 and bring the item(s) back the next week and place them by the tree and we will make sure that they get down to Love Inc.  Any questions please call Sarah Burris at 262-763-5967.

Ø When back to school shopping remember Operation Christmas Child and save the shoeboxes and pick up some extra supplies if you can.

DO YOU HAVE THRIVENT insurance? A new program from Thrivent Financial gives members a voice in charitable giving which includes our congregation and preschool.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has launched Choice DollarsSM, a new component of its Thrivent ChoiceSM charitable grant program. Choice Dollars enables eligible Thrivent Financial members to help direct a portion of Thrivent Financial charitable funds to Lutheran organizations and congregations. Eligible members can choose to help direct funds to more than 18,000 separate organizations enrolled in the program by recommending how an amount of funds should be spent. Our Savior Lutheran Church and In His Arms Precshool are enrolled and are able to receive funds.
Eligibility for the program is based on a member’s annual insurance premiums from qualifying products, contract values in qualifying products and/or volunteer leadership in various Thrivent Financial roles. Most eligible benefit members will be able to help direct between $25 and $100 annually, and some may be able to help direct as much as $500, based on their financial and volunteer involvement in the organization.
Choice Dollars, which will annually deliver tens-of-millions of dollars to worthy Lutheran organizations and congregations, is designed to increase the percentage of Thrivent members involved in helping to direct a portion of charitable funds.
Thrivent Financial members can help direct Choice Dollars designated to them at Thrivent.com/thriventchoice or by calling 1-800-847-4836 and saying “Thrivent Choice”.
